I have mixed emotions. Yeah, I think a large majority of the students I see don't live up to their potential. The American kid has turned into something that has to be coddled and cared for to the point that it's become ridiculous. Must have the kid well-rounded. Must be adequate athletic and leisure and religious and family and academic time. It's just my opinion, but I think the era of the Renaissance American Child is over. If we want our kids to live the life we had, they've got to learn to specialize. And it couldn't hurt if they actually learned to WORK!
